10 January 2004:
FELIX DA HOUSECAT’S HIGHLY ANTICIPATED FOLLOW-UP TO KITTENZ AND THEE GLITZ HAS FINALLY ARRIVED! ALL HAIL DEVIN DAZZLE AND THE NEON FEVER! Rarely can an artist turn all of dance music on its side and spawn a synth revival. When Chicago’s Felix da Housecat released “Kittenz and Thee Glitz” in 2002, he did just that. Critics across the country were hailing Felix as the producer of the moment, the DJ of the year (Spin, 2002), the artist of the future. Now, he’s set to release the new “Devin Dazzle and the Neon Fever”, 15 tracks of delectable, glittery, synthetic/organic, beat-laden heaven that will undoubtedly reawaken the world to the next big thing again.
Produced by Felix Da Housecat, save some songs co-produced by Dave The Hustler, X Lover and others, Devin Dazzle and the Neon Fever boasts guest vocals from James Murphy of DFA (“What She Wants”), Tyrone “Visionary” Palmer (“Ready to Wear”), Kate Wax, and an all-girl group known as The Neon Fever (“Rocket Ride,” “Everyone is Someone in LA,” “Hunting Season”).
Here’s what some critics had to say about Felix’s last artist album, the revolutionary Kittenz and Thee Glitz:
“One of the most pristine and innovative dance albums to come from an American DJ in recent memory.” – The New York Times
“Fun, freaky future funk Felix has become an electro dance god.” **** – Rolling Stone
“Instead of just blowing the dust off of relics from his childhood closet, he’s embraced the neon ethos of the era and produced an actual New Wave album that still sounds eerily contemporary.” – URB
“Devin Dazzle and The Neon Fever” will be released worldwide on Emperor Norton Records in May 2004.
