Video on demand servers are complex, expensive and inappropriate to be used in low-budget environments.
This work proposes an approach to use an open source web server and an open source content management system as a video on demand platform for public web purposes. Pseudo-streaming over the hyper text transfer protocol is introduced with the supporting web server features. A practical implementation of the solution is provided with the extensions made to WordPress content
management system

Two terminal-based monitoring tools

nload

nload is a console application which monitors network traffic and bandwidth usage in real time. It visualizes the in- and outgoing traffic using two graphs and provides additional info like the total amount of transfered data and min/max network usage.

slurm08

Slurm (version 0.4.0) shows network activity for a given interface. Total uploads and downloads are shown together in text and ASCII graphics. Data updates every second by default, and the graph scrolls from left to right according to network usage.
